Hope is named after her purpose and promise for her wild bearded vulture counterparts. The egg that housed this exquisite female was harvested from a lowland South African nest in 2015. Along with Mwezi, Hope was part of the initial pilot project for the Bred 4 the Wild Programme. She is as serene, as he is quirky and is certainly quite striking here in her mottled sub-adult colour. Her colour is fast changing into adult plumage and we plan to let her replace Lesedi as the visual surrogate parent to raise the forthcoming chicks as she waits for the male bearded vultures to get old enough to breed.
