Stimela

R200.00

Description

Stimela originated from an high altitude escarpment nest at the end of a most gruelling 80m abseil drop. Harvested in 2017, her egg was transported into safety by helicopter; she is the only surviving chick from a challenging rearing season in which both her captive-reared ‘siblings’ died. She is very close to our heart and is a real fighter, having survived the aspergillosis scare at four months of age. Aspergillosis is an often fatal fungal respiratory condition to which bearded vultures are prone. Now approaching three years of age this special female’s face is just starting to hint at the white of adulthood.
