Rooster ♂
In the year 2022 we named the five harvested chicks after the fighter pilot characters of the newly- released TOPGUN Maverick movie. We thought that the code names of an elite flying squad sent to ’save the world’ were apt for our programme birds with a similar mission for their species. Rooster is part of this group and is the only founder population representative from the Free State province.
Tragically in that same year of harvest we had lost a big, beautiful, three-year-old female called Red to renal failure and it just so happened that the only active escarpment nest in 2022 was Red’s original natal home. So, we were able to return and collect a beautiful brother; namely Rooster. At only two years of age Rooster is unpaired and resides with another three programme birds of the same age
